The Sherline 17" Ball Screw Benchtop Lathe #1 Morse Headstock High-Torque Stepper Motors is an advanced iteration of the renowned 17-inch, 4400-series benchtop lathe. This model features a robust solid aluminum base, enhancing the rigidity of the assembly. The lathe is equipped with an upgraded saddle designed to support ball screws, and it includes a larger crosslide measuring 8 inches. The integration of #23 NEMA frame stepper-motor mounts with high-torque couplings further enhances its performance capabilities.

This lathe offers a swing over bed of 5.97 inches and a swing over carriage of 1.75 inches, providing ample space for various machining tasks. The distance between centers is 17 inches, allowing for the accommodation of longer workpieces. The spindle features a hole through diameter of .405 inches and a spindle nose thread of 3/4-inch-16 T.P.I., with a #1 Morse taper.
